A Thousand and One

Taking place over a 10-year period from early 1990s Harlem, "A Thousand And One" follows Inez (Teyana Taylor) and her son Terry's relationship, experiencing both triumphs and hardships amidst the backdrop of an ever-changing (read: gentrifying) New York City. After spending years apart while Inez was at Rikers, upon release, she kidnaps Terry from his foster home and begins the journey to a better life for the both of them. Teyana Taylor gives a powerhouse performance, and some earth-shattering revelations toward the end add even more density to an already thematically rich story.
