John Wick: Chapter 4

March 23rd, 2023 / Kevin Ward

“John Wick: Chapter 4” is an incredible piece of cinema. Relentless and non-stop action that somehow never gets boring, which is a massive accomplishment for a 2-hour and 50-minute epic. The locations are gorgeously filmed, with vibrant colors popping off the screen in this otherwise dark and seedy pseudo-underworld setting. A must-watch in IMAX as it looks remarkably stunning. Each action scene somehow tops the last.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” follows John setting out to take down The High Table, but they have assigned Marquis Vincent de Gramont to stop him. The Marquis uses his international connections to turn some of John's former allies against him. Despite all of the obstacles thrown in John's path, his epic odyssey is barreling towards a climactic showdown to determine his own fate and the fate of The High Table.

Kudos to the casting director. Hiroyuki Sanada? Donnie Yen? Bill Skarsgârd? Clancy Brown? (the list goes on) Each one is note-perfect. Skarsgârd and Yen, in particular, bring so much flavor to this universe. I can't wait to see it again in the theater. If you've seen the preceding films, you know what you're in for with “John Wick: Chapter 4.” Chapter 4 of the John Wick Saga skillfully increases the excitement and intensity with each new scene and setting. The final act is especially thrilling, featuring an exciting overhead action sequence reminiscent of “Minority Report,” a challenging staircase battle, and a classic duel. This buildup leads to a highly satisfying conclusion to the John Wick Saga and cements the film as a modern action masterpiece. Go see this movie in the cinema.
