Dawning

“Dawning” treads some familiar ground where unresolved familial trauma and grief manifest as supernatural horrors haunting the protagonist. The incorporation of horror elements in the story is compelling, especially the scene of a figure digging frantically in the sand, which is unsettling and creepy. I wish director Young Min Kim had intensified the horrors further. There were certainly opportunities to ratchet up the tension. “Dawning,” ultimately, is a decent festival watch.
