Emergency

Sundance 2022
“Emergency” is a ton of fun. It starts as a typical 'wild night out' college flick with two best friends (R.J. Cyler and Donald Elise Watkins) looking to complete a "legendary party tour," but before the parties even start, they find a stranger passed out on the living room floor. Two black students with an unconscious white girl in their home have different ideas on how best to do the right thing without putting themselves in danger. Should they involve the police or try to remove the girl from the house before she wakes up? Written by K.D. Dávila and directed by Carey Williams, what follows is a funny college romp yet also a pointed commentary on race, class, and privilege. Highly recommend it as one of my favorites from this year's Sundance.
