"The Accidental Getaway Driver" depicts the true story of a Vietnamese cab driver who was forcefully taken captive by three escaped convicts from Orange County Prison. While the film initially presents itself as a crime thriller, it ultimately becomes a poignant character drama exploring the fundamental human desire for connection and family. The film feels its length, and the balancing of the tones of the disparate genres feels off at times, but this still makes for an enjoyable and emotionally moving watch.
