Maika Monroe stars as Julia, an American who has just moved to Bucharest with her husband. She begins to notice someone watching her from the building across the street and someone following her around town, all while a murderer called The Spider has been stalking and killing women in the area. Julia's husband and friends tend to dismiss her concerns about her stalker, attributing them to her paranoia and feelings of isolation. The isolated feeling of being a foreigner abroad is captured exceptionally well. The movie is engaging, creating a palpable tension leading up to the finale. However, the ending feels abrupt and unsatisfying, as it doesn't seem fully earned. Maika gives a lovely performance, though, and I might be an official Maika Monroe fan now.
